Edo State Government, Monday, resolved with security agencies to
demolish any building used by criminals to harbour kidnap victims in the
state.
The decision was reached at a Security Council meeting at Government
House, Benin City. Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, the
state Commissioner of Police, Mr Foluso Adebanjo, said: "The council
has resolved that any house used for kidnapping purposes will be
demolished."
Flanked by Mr. Bakori Tukur, the state Director of Department of
State Security and representatives of Brig-General Pat Akem, Commander, 4
Brigade and Air Commodore Umar Atiku, Commander, 81 Air Maritime Group,
Adebanjo said: "We have arrested many armed robbers and kidnappers and
they are being interrogated.

He said that the State Security Council had taken a strong position to stem the tide of kidnapping in the state. "The council had resolved that any house used for kidnapping purposes will be demolished. The response we have been getting on distress calls has been very encouraging. We, the security agencies, are doing our best and the people are appreciating what we are doing."
